MY STORY

Twenty-five years ago, Sarah Bohmker joined the family mining business, diving into research, book publishing, consulting, and mining shows. She quickly carved out her niche, managing operations, building strong networks with mining clubs and organizations, fostering unity through coalitions, and engaging local communities to address environmental concerns and promote responsible small-scale mining.

In 2019, Josephine County selected her to represent small-scale miners in Washington, D.C., where she advocated effectively against agency overreach and overregulation.

In 2024, Sarah Bohmker located a prized stretch of ground on Josephine Creek, now known as the Elephant Claim.

This claim directly addresses the question she's heard hundreds of times: "I want to pan for gold without claim jumping—where can I go?"

The Elephant is a legally held mining claim open for use with **no fee** for non-motorized day-use prospecting and gold panning, making it an ideal spot on one of Southern Oregon's most beloved creeks.

Drawing on this deep experience, Sarah now offers specialized services in mapping, research, and claim location to help aspiring miners navigate the process and achieve their goals.
